One way you can help the "Save The Camrose " campaign is by contacting your local councillor.
Contact Your Councillor - Ask them for their views and support (Just copy the text below and send it to your local councillor)
Dear Councillor
As a resident in your ward, I would be grateful if you would provide answers to three simple questions.
Do you support the vision of Basingstoke Town Community Club to establish a community sports facility at the Camrose Ground to promote greater physical health and mental well being?
Do you support the case to retain the long established status quo of two main spectator football grounds (the Camrose and Winklebury Football Complex) in the town?
Will you be communicating your views to residents in your ward?
I look forward to an early reply. Your Name

Dear Mr xxxxxxxxx
Thank you very much for your contact. I should point out that at this stage I am running for election and am not yet a councillor … but I do hope to be!
As I am just running for election, I am not party to the detail of the current situation however I do understand that the campaign has much community support and that plans to redevelop the land have yet again been rejected. I am very much in support of any activity to improve sports facilities, especially for young people. My colleague, Cllr. Andy Konieczko reported that the March budget announced hundreds of millions of pounds for communities to invest in their local sports clubs. At the Council’s Economic, Planning & Housing Committee meeting, he asked if we could apply for some of this funding to help Basingstoke’s football and ice hockey clubs secure their future in the Borough.
If elected, I would have no problem at all in joining my colleagues on the council in giving support to the campaign of returning Basingstoke Football club to The Camrose if its financially viable. We have not ruled out delivering a sports arena as part of the leisure park rethink. We are ambitious for sport in the borough and our long-term goal is to build a venue that could host league football.
Our forthcoming election leaflet communicates this. It was due to be delivered this weekend but we delayed campaigning due to the funeral so please look out for it in the next few days.

I emailed the Labour party and requested the email addresses of the candidates standing in my area Brookvale and Kingsfurlong and their response is below.
Hi xxxxxxxx
Thankyou for your email. We are fully committed to saving the Camrose Football ground for the local team and its disgraceful that the tory party in local government have done little to help this situation.
The following is from our Basingstoke Labour manifesto:
• We will offer our 100% support to Basingstoke Town Community Football Club to fulfil their ambitions to return to the Camrose Ground, and their ambitions for a community sports hub . • We will promote the development of women’s and youth football in Basingstoke and Deane.

I emailed Libdems Gavin James and his response is below.
The answer to all 3 is yes. The only caveate is at this stage I am uncertain of the viability of re-opening the Camrose. Were it to prove better for the long term future of the club to build a new facility in the leisure park then I would want the club/council to take a serious look at it as there is space for a larger venue there a walk through the underpass away from Winklebury FA site. This jjas featured in our election material thus far and also in our mini-manifesto which can be obtained form here basingstokelibdems.org.uk/en/
