Jack, any idea when the CC members will know reference the tweet below you put out on July 1st?
“Good morning Basingstoke
🤝 Met Councillors this week, thanks for the invites, we are aware of where we stand now and what we need to do in regards to planning for a like for like”
Someone has asked the question “where do we stand then”. Jack has replied that the CC members will know first in a an update.
RIP CAMROSE - SADLY AND UNCEREMONIOUSLY TAKEN AWAY FROM THE PEOPLE OF BASINGSTOKE . NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN
Prejudice is a great TIME SAVER. You can form opinions without having to get to the FACTS.
I have read our MPs quote in the second link and she stops short of saying the club should return to the Camrose. She appears to be asking the Attorney General the MP for Fareham for legal advice. She should be putting pressure on the Council to provide a like for like replacement or a purchase of the Camrose site which will need about 100k to renovate. Wish posters would just say the club rather than the community club which IS the club.

Stocky, reference your post, you could always write to her yourself or seek an appointment to go and see Maria Miller and tell her what she should be doing? The more different people write in and not just to our MP but our council too, shows different support from different people. Anyway here is Maria Millers email address to save you looking:

As for the the clubs name, I thought it changed it to Basingstoke Community Club in part to get away from the previous greedy owners connection to the club! However, I do think in time when all this settles down people will call it the ‘club’ or Basingstoke FC as it always was in years gone past.

Hi Steve, At last Thursday's full council meeting, I asked the following question to the council.
"In a news release on 9th June, Councillor Izett stated that there were no current plans to dispose of the 1.94 acre strip in the freehold ownership of the Council, currently leased for a remainder of 30 years to Basingstoke Town Ltd owned by Mr Razzak. Can Councillor Izett confirm that this lease which covers part of the playing pitch, spectator area and the only vehicle access to the ground has a term linking its continuance to the usage of the ground for sport? And should not the Council be proactive in disposing of this land which could be pivotal in the redevelopment of the Camrose (even if not part of Basron's planning application) and which could generate funds for the benefit of residents ? Otherwise the land is unlikely to have any practical value and create a cost to maintain."
Councillor Izett responded basically stating that the 30-year lease of council land is still and will remain in Bt Ltd's control, and the council have no interest in contacting Basron about ending the lease or negotiating with them about the councils 1.94 acre strip. It was upto to Basron to contact the council. He did add that the land was upto Basron to maintain, whilst the lease remained.
I then asked the following supplementary question
"Surely the Council would have linked any continuance of the lease of the strip to the requirement that football/sport continues at the Camrose. In which case the Basron closure to football should mean the Basron lease automatically falls, can the Council confirm that is the position (if the council has lost the lease they should get a copy from Basron).
Councillor added that he answered this in his previous statement, adding that Hampshire County Council may indeed still put a road through the entrance to the Camrose Ground, if their road plans change.
It is clear that Councillor Izett has no interest (and never has had) and interest in the Town's football club or ground, and will be long gone before any real decision needs to be made.
