Stoke travelled to Wimborne to take on the Magpies in our last friendly of the season. After the initial 15 minutes of mixed play it was Stoke who took the lead after a left-footed strike by James Clark. Clark then missed an absolute sitter as he slid the ball to the goal-line but allowing a defender to clear it off the line. However, a few minutes later Clark made up for this when he picked up the ball 35 yards out, and superbly chipped the keeper leaving him floundering to get back for the goal. Stoke went into the break leading by two, when it could have easily been 3 or 4. The second-half kicked off and within minutes Bradley Wilson took the ball from the left wing into the penalty box before sliding the ball past the keeper into the far corner of the net. Minutes later a through ball found D'Andre, who slipped the ball past the keeper before slamming it home from 3yds. The fifth came a minute later when a ball from Wilson across to Marcio, who neatly slid it past the keeper.
Stoke made further changes and this to be honest upset the rhythm of the team, and a few good saves by stand-in keeper Sam Gray, kept the score at 5-0, with a superb all-round performance.
Cracking performance for a friendly, Never seen 11 men run so much, also, Simon Dunn was Outstanding, I mean out bloody standing! Won near enough every ball & didnt stop, Top effort...Excited for Next week
The midfield pressing for the first two goals was brilliant, I feel our midfield always plays best when it has high energy and Dunny and Deandre compliment each other really well. Add Atkinson to that and the results were there to see for Clark to be fed quality chances yesterday l. Shame I had to leave at half time as it seems the performance only got better in the second half. Up the ‘Stoke!
