Supporter Club Member and Basingstoke Independent Councillor Steve Williams, sets out in letter to the Gazette the way to move forward together in replacing the Camrose, for the future financial sustainability of the club.

'I believe Mr Williams speaks as an original community club board member duped into following the path the club has taken, following the Razzak threat that this was the only way to save the club, and advice from sidekick David Knight, who sat in the 2017 meeting and said all that was needed for Winklebury to reach grade B was a bit of terracing and a few extra seats. Mr Williams wanted a national campaign to bring attention to the Camrose situation but club officials, still scared for the future of the club, and afraid that denying planning permission at the Camrose would leave them with nothing, stayed silent. Council leaders sat back and hid behind the appeal and how nothing could be done, spouting on about how proud they are of the help they have given the club in bringing them back into the town. Its a shambles, brought about by a council who have aided and abetted this greedy alleged businessman in his quest to destroy the stadium. Razzak is a bully, and a scammer, pure and simple, playing on people's fears to bulldoze his schemes through. His assets should be frozen and he should be replacing the stadium he stole. But councillors from all parties should also be ashamed of the part they have played along the way. The first thing they need to do is come clean about what that part was. The second thing they need to do is put it right. The town deserve better'
