BASINGSTOKE 0-0 HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE
The game started with very early pressure from Havant & Waterlooville, as Basingstoke were hemmed into their own half for the first 10 minutes. The earliest of the games chances fell to Dennis Oli with a free header which was glanced over the bar from close range. As the game progressed it became a lot more open and had more of a cup tie feel as both teams found more space in midfield. For the majority of the rest of the first half Basingstoke continually put balls in behind the away teams defence however Havant had the better of the chances with Sahr Kabba hitting the inside of the post on the swivel with the ball squirming away to safety.
The second half began much the same as the first with Sahr Kabba not capitalising on the away teams pressure with a soft header into the arms of Basingstoke keeper Louis Wells. A spell of home pressure commenced with Manny Williams forcing Scott Bevan into a good save, his first of the match. Havant looked threatening on the break as Basingstoke's play regularly broke down in the final third, which was much the theme for both sides. Basingstoke had a late penalty appeal turned down as Pedro Monteiro appeared to bring down Towns' Neil Barrett. Sahr Kabba then broke down the right wing weaving his way past Town defenders towards goal finally ending up one-against-one with Louis Wells who saved well. Overall it was a game of half chances for both sides and a lack of passing precision in the final third.
