A truly fantastic achievement for the boys. The side are also top of their league, are through to their league cup final, and are clearly hopeful of the Treble.
Basingstoke Town Colts also have two under 16's sides. The Elite team playing in the North East Hants Youth League, the other team in the Peter Houseman Youth League. Both currently sit top of their leagues and are through to their League Cup Finals and are hopeful of pulling off the Double.

Are these teams linked to Basingstoke Town Football Club or is this a crafty bit of advertising?

So if this is not blatant advertising by thebasingstoke town colts chairman, then I presume I can expect to see updates from all the other PHYL clubs on this forum in future.

I have been interested in the highs and lows of BTFC for a number of years and have kept an eye on the fourms. I dont claim to be BTFC number one supporter but there does seem to be a small few that feel they have to continuly hound and write negitve posts directed at the people who run the club.
And before you post back saying which part of my post, or I have a right to question, etc. Its not just one post its the continued negitivety and badgering of the people who put all the time and energy into the running of the club.
Sorry for the rant and well done to the young boys who won the Hampshire cup.

scargill you have fallen for the “negativity” mantra, that you can only be a true/real fan if you pledge your undying support for “the club” no matter what.
But fans up and down the country at every level are questioning what they believe to be wrong about the way their clubs are run and yes questioning the ability and motives of the people running them. This is not “negativity” it is the way it should be and yes we do all have the right to do so. After all, they only have to answer the question or prove me wrong, don’t they?
You refer to the “few” who post but shouldn’t you be more concerned about those who don’t, the ones who don’t bother to tell the officials what they think, don’t bother to ask questions, have just disappeared, lost interest, don’t come any more, don’t care any more? There should be much more interest in the town’s local team. It should have achieved a lot more than it has and its long suffering supporters should not have had to put up with so many years of mediocrity, struggle and secrecy.
I may be a lone voice on the forum, just as when it came to wanting to be open and honest or protecting the interests of supporters I was often a lone voice in the boardroom, but it bothers me and I honestly can’t understand why it doesn’t bother you!

Many Congratulations to the U/15’s on their achievement, very good keep it up lads.
Bit surprised to read about it on here having been told on a previous BTFC forum from the Youth chap in charge who took great delight and felt we should all know he received a local award that there would be no more reports on youth results win lose or draw. Still looking for the U/18s FA Youth Cup match report from I think September despite asking for it on a previous forum. Previous years the club were brilliant in publishing the youngster’s results and match reports win lose or draw. Is it now selected results and reports only that now appear?
Dave far too many good and clever searching questions that many of us would like to know the answers too as well . It seems that it upsets a few from within and Scargill’s post very reminiscent of a previous poster on a previous forum who had the same difficulty with his grammar.

The youth set up at the club is a very important issue (as I know you also believe) and you are right that it needs a consistent approach. Either we follow the progress of the teams as they go through the season or we don't. We either want people to be interested or we don't. simples.
There is a clear impression of "crowing" here and a clear conflict of interest with the youth setup being devised and run by the hierarchy of only one of the many local youth clubs that play in the PHYL, the players of that club dominating, and the advertising of other teams playing under that banner.
This situation needs to be addressed in order that access to the town's senior team becomes CLEARLY open to the other 85% or whatever of young players in the town who do not wish to play for the Basingstoke Town Colts.
Those within who are upset by these questions should really be asking themselves some of their own, I'm sad to say. It will be great if they can get this right, all I ever got was at best indifference and at worst obstruction, mainly from those who are now in charge!
Of course, I wasn't here for the glory years But, never mind, Nev'll Fix It!
You're quite right the youth set up should be open to all children in the Basingstoke area. What they should not be doing is just running another grass roots club. They need to run trials and pick the most talented youngsters to play for the new set up that looks like its going to be competing in the JPL next year.
The problem is that because Basingstoke Town has never had a competitive youth system we will need to start from scratch and the most talented youngsters will already be playing in a good team.
Now having been involved in youth football in my past I know that if you get a particularly good team at under 8 or 9, what happens though natural selection is they keep attracting and recruiting the better players.
This is probably what has happened with the Colts u15s side that has just won the Hampshire cup I would imaging they probably have the most talented kids in the area already at that age.
Because we will be starting a new competitive youth system why should we not be taking a team of the best players under the Town banner whether it is the likes of Winklebury Wizards, The Berg, or the Colts. That said there should also be trials to asses other talent.
This will only be a one off to get the system up and running for the older age groups as the younger ages will be selected before the grass root natural selection process happens.
After all the idea is to nurture talent and hopefully we can start to generate players who make the first team in the future.

To clarify, at present we have a development centre whereby we coach and develop players aged 6-12 via the clubs Centre For Elite Development. The players in the CFED are drawn from grassroots teams across Basingstoke and the surrounding areas. Basingstoke Town Colts do provide players at present for the u15/16 elite teams as a bridge between grassroots football and the full time academy as has been the case for the last 2 seasons.
However, from next season our new youth structure will be drawing on players from our existing player pool for age groups u7-u12's as well as holding trials for new additions to the current squads.
With regards to the new age groups being formed (u13-u18) we have a new recruitment programme for players in these age groups open to players across ALL grassroots football with trial dates to be released at the presentation evening.
The new Basingstoke Town FC development sides will play in the Junior-Premier League and join a list of Premier League, Football League and Conference teams playing in this exciting, highly rated youth league.
By creating these new teams we have now created a pathway for players from u7's through to the full time academy and hopefully into the first team. We are not looking to take players away from grassroots football. We are providing an additional training programme and a set of fixtures to further aid in their development and bring local talent together for the benefit of the players and the club – to use a quote from the Junior-Premier League website - “The league is aimed at clubs who wish to develop their players through a best with best ethos.”
Club News, When this team kicks off in this new league next season will there be regular reports (even weekly) on here for all to see to show how they are getting on, Win Lose or Draw? or will it be selected results only? Asking this question now nice and early before a ball is kicked.

Steve,
The NERF Junior Premier League have a fantastic website which has loads of information, profiles, all results, league tables, players stats, match reports and much more.
Obviously during the season we are likely to provide other periodic updates, on our website, podcast etc when there is something significant to report.
I know these things need to be paid for, but let's hope it develops talent that will benefit BTFC and is not just another way of raising money by recruiting all that apply.
I for one am glad that there will finally be this separation between Basingstoke Town FC and the shambles that is the Colts. Poorly managed, poorly run, with an awful reputation around the town and the area. Let's just hope the directors don't turn the new youth set up into a new Basingstoke Town Colts or the future will not be very bright for football on Basingstoke.
Is the elite set up staying in place next season for the under 15/16 or will it be replaced by this new nerf project? Will the nerf side be picked in talent or cheque book? Will any of the local boys that aren't already involved in basingstoke stand a chance if Basingstoke elite side already have the best resulting in them winning hants cup? Won't that team just be taken as a whole and made into the nerf team?
