To celebrate our fantastic Hampshire Senior Cup victory we will be holding an evening in our Camrose clubhouse from 7pm til 9pm on Friday 16th May. Come along to meet manager Jason Bristow and some of the players that featured in the Cup final and have your photo taken with the Trophy and the players.
Selected beers will be £2 a pint. We really look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to continue our celebrations of the Clubs 6th Hampshire Cup title.

Is the facebook photo the only coverage of last night as was the case with the sportsmans dinner? Will there be photos of the players with the fans and the trophy? Would have thought this another good opportunity to show success and a bit of excitement at the club?
Of course, I wasn't here for the glory years But, never mind, Nev'll Fix It!
I have just finished getting pictures of last night's Fans evening with the Hampshire Senior Trophy. Follow the link above to view the pictures now. I have also sent the pictures, ready for the club to put on their site
Dave, how about a congratulations to the team for winning the HSC?
No there's none of that...just negative and bitterness every time and It's really boring.
If you're a supporter, you should be coming on here to praise the team... not just to find criticism to where you see fit at how the club is being run.
Sometimes you raise good points but now it's just rather predictable and boring and all I see is bitterness.
Sorry Dave I normally like your negativity but on this subject you could at the very least give your congratulations to the team for winning the Hampshire Senior Cup after a poor season they deserve some thanks at the very least

Sorry lads but this has nothing to do with congratulating the team on winning the cup. The event was supposed to be “To celebrate our fantastic Hampshire Senior Cup victory” and I would have thought the chance to capitalise on that success and get some much needed good publicity and interest for the club. Maybe even use some of the photos from after the game (I won’t move any examples on to this board for obvious reasons but they’re on the website) or the evening with the fans to update the banners on the website and the much acclaimed social media sites.
“Come along to meet manager Jason Bristow and some of the players that featured in the Cup final and have your photo taken with the Trophy and the players” said the advertising. So far so good. But then what?
If you’re happy with a few snaps taken in a scrubby old car park, the cup displayed amongst a load of empties and a couple of pints of lager and a team that are conspicuous only by their absence then so be it. But it doesn’t do it for me. And it won’t do it for a lot of others either.
We are told it will be an exciting time to be a Basingstoke fan this summer. Yes we’ve seen season ticket prices reduced, we have the opportunity to put forward ideas for the kit, we’ll have a few pre season friendlies, hopefully some players will sign and I suppose the plans for the new ground might finally be going in. Nothing wrong with any of it, it might excite, it might not, but part of it is in the presentation and as well as involving the existing fanbase part of it surely is about making it look like an exciting time to BECOME a Basingstoke fan as well.
And no Luke I’m not bitter, I’m just keeping an eye because a) I genuinely think things should be done better and b) its not in my interest for the club to go out of business just yet.
Of course, I wasn't here for the glory years But, never mind, Nev'll Fix It!

Funny didnt see you doing any banners like this when you helped out on the website, just fed up with you having a dig at the volunteers at the club, your grievance is with rafi and the club, not the fans so there is no need for this.
I wasn't having a dig at volunteers and fans. The responsibility for these things should not rest with volunteers and fans. We have a publicity director and a marketing manager. Yet the "club" still do not make the most of opportunities to promote properly.
Of course, I wasn't here for the glory years But, never mind, Nev'll Fix It!
I know Dave is bitter about the way he and his family have been treated, and I feel he probably has some justification. I do however feel that many posters miss the points Dave tries to make. Perhaps the bitterness shows through a bit too much, but his point is usually drawing attention to the opportunities missed by the club when various events occur. Of course the club should shout their successes from the rooftops, whether the success is on or off the field. All too often announcements are too basically matter of fact, but totally unemotional, and as a result has little impact on the community and therefore fails to sell the club to potential supporters. Football is an emotional game and needs to maximise the emotions of supporters and potential supporters. Dour, bland statements, usually with no follow up, does nothing to help generate local enthusiasm for the club. Is the town's population really aware of the club let alone it's success in the winning the Cup.
Dave, that's very assuming that the marketing manager isn't a volunteer - do you know differently or are you guessing?
I'm sure the club are very grateful for all of the volunteers and I'm sure the volunteers are getting tired with your constant digs of what should be done if you were doing it or how you'd do it differently. There are certain ways to say things and as Bill says, the bitterness really does show through.
Bill, it’s easy to say “do this” and “do that” when you’re not the one needing to do it. Dave had his chance to do things the way he wanted and for whatever reason he doesn’t do it anymore but no-one was watching over his shoulder and saying “you’re doing this wrong” when certain things were being “managed” poorly.

Its all very well coming on here defending your mates Jack but I think as Bill suggests we are focussing on the personal rather than the facts.
I would also say that you're suffering from selective memory with your comment "no-one was watching over his shoulder and saying “you’re doing this wrong”" but I suppose the demise of previous forums is very handy for those who don't choose to remember.
There is a difference in being a “volunteer” coming along to help on match days or doing things like the website and programme in your own time, and holding an “unpaid” position as a director or having manager or executive in your title. I have been a volunteer, held an unpaid position, and been an employee and regardless of how some would like to belittle my efforts I gave 100% at all times and with a little more support from the club and fans alike could have put a lot more into action than I was able. But that is by the by.
Regards this event, which was the point of this thread, no-one has as yet put forward any reason as to why the players did not turn up as advertised or if they did why they were not in the photographs, or why this event produced nothing that could have been used as good publicity for the club, a subject I would have expected the marketing manager to have been involved in. The manager is not a volunteer, he is a paid employee, so what happened with the players? The general manager/clubhouse licensee is not a volunteer, she is a paid employee, as are the bar staff, so why was the clubhouse not prepared properly for a more professional display of the cup/photo backdrop? The photographer is technically not a volunteer, he sells his work, so why was he not able to set up better pictures? With the number of people now on the payroll at the club and the number of “professionals” now in position certain things are still being “managed” very poorly! Why?
Of course, I wasn't here for the glory years But, never mind, Nev'll Fix It!
Some fans wanted their photos taken with the trophy. If there was a professional backdrop, make up and hair artists and someone had polished the trophy so it looked all nice and shiny, what would you suggest was done with the pictures to promote the club? What would this achieve in the end game? It's all good and well having 100% effort but if it doesn't actually affect anything, isn't effort best spent elsewhere (it is being spent better elsewhere).
What were your achievements in the 3 years you were at the club Dave?
Post by davidpartridge on May 21, 2014 11:39:25 GMT
One of them was keeping bad press away from you at one time Jack.
I've already made one suggestion for the use of the photos, ratherthan us batting this back and forth all afternoon perhaps you could suggest to Simon that he has the meeting with me that he suggested some time ago and we could discuss other options properly. I sent him my email address, he can contact me direct.
Of course, I wasn't here for the glory years But, never mind, Nev'll Fix It!
I've been away on business for a few weeks, shame really, I wanted to go to the cup final. Well done to Jason & all concerned.
I see Partridge is still at it!
All people at the club, volunteers or not, keep working hard for the club that we love. NOBODY needs to justify themselves to Partridge who readily admits he was clueless about doing the same things he now demands of you.
And why on earth should the new highly skilled & successful marketing whizz-kid feel the need to meet Dave Partridge? What's there to learn?
Because Dave probably knows more about the things that stop the club achieving the support of the community at large than almost anyone else. I doubt there is a family in the town who have been as intimately involved behind the scenes as the Partridge family. Dave also sees so many opportunities that are missed and as a true supporter of the club will find this frustrating, and will feel those in charge are not demonstrating the level of professionalism that they should. I agree with him.
Sorry Bill but I don't know if you can class Dave as a die hard/true fan of the club at least not anymore.
I don't think he'd lose sleep if the club went bust or anything. Where was Dave at thw HSC final? Where was Dave at Sutton when we lost 4-1? Where was Dave on Friday?
All I ever see Dave do is come on here and have digs at club staff due to his bitterness. And even if he does make out to be making an honest opinion/point it always ultimately ends up in a critical comment on how the club is being run or who should be doing what.
