Here is a link for my pictures of the Cambridge Utd vs Gateshead at Wembley May18th. Ex Basingstoke Town player Delano Sam-York played his part in the first half only for Cambridge. I have managed t get 2 pictures of him with the trophy after the final whistle. With just under 20000 fans there, it still had a great atmosphere in the ground. I know it is not exactly true Basingstoke, but in the first half, I feel Delano Sam-York played well for Cambridge.
Great photos though I honestly can't quite believe you bothered going Les
Very much a one sided game and I know you can't go by clubs names but I knew Cambridge United were going to win it Gateshead just really does not stick out as a Football League club name
Congratulations to Cambridge United not surprised they are now officially a Football League club
It is always nice to photograph other teams as well as Basingstoke Town. Wembley is the National Stadium, and I have a Football Conference League Photographers Licence, which one needs to photograph any Football Conference League match. This also allows me to go to the final at Wembley, which I have covered for the last 3 seasons. There is a chance of selling pictures to the press and media, and I did send them off to press agencies, but with more photographers there, it is a lot tougher. The chances to get in the national press is virtually non-existent at this level sadly. This year, I would say there were around 30 press photographers there. I have seen more there in the past although. Also looking at the match sats. Gateshead had a lot more of the play, but Cambridge got the goals that were needed to win the game.
Some may think it is a nice easy job just to take pictures and put them on a laptop and website, but to do the job properly, one can hardly see too much of the game, only where the camera lens is pointing, and to keep an eye on the action, to get the right shots, as well as sorting out the pictures that one needs, as one goes along. So I hardly see much of the game itself on some games, plus challenging light conditions , as was at Wembley with strong sun and shadows on most of the pitch. On a cold Tuesday night game, non league pitches do not have the best floodlights, but are workable, to get the best of the pictures. The Cambrose is better than a lot of grounds, I have visited in the past, at this level of football. Football League grounds, the floodlights are a lot brighter, and have stricter minimum light regulations.
Finally, yes it was worth going yesterday, as it was covering some football league games last season, afternoon and evening kick-off's.
