Always seemed a very risky strategy picking 4 forwards away to one of the best teams in the league. Was Massimo, who had made a difference in midfield last couple of games, injured, not available or not selected??
Ok, have to say first, we were outplayed today. Merthyr`s pace, passing, movement off the ball was superb for a side at this level. Sliced us open countless times, could have been embarassing. Their right winger looked way too good for this level.
Started well, Dunny`s terrific strike with his wrong foot might have got us moving. Then Merthyr got into their stride, and we couldn`t live with them.
All three pens were arguable, seen them given, ref had a chance to whistle them, and did. Begs the question on the most obvious pen of the game - when Reidy could have dislocated his shoulder after that shove, why not that???
But not why we lost. Won`t name players, but think we are finding out that too few of last year`s squad can cope at this level - big step up, too far for several of the guys.
Dan`s only job now is to keep the side up, then in the summer do a rebuild for next term. Nothing else matters now, this level is tough and the squad are struggling. Think we may survive, just about, but will be tight.
Would not surprise me at all if Merthyr ended up as Champions. They played some terrific football today and we have to hold our hands up.
Fair post. They were too strong for us at our place as well. You are right in your analysis. Dan CAN motivate this squad to stay up no problem about that.
