Yes, too strong for us. They were the best team I watched before Xmas (their place in September). Our full-backs didn't really get forward and Ferdinand was shackled by their defence. Hodges and Cook sparked some good flow in our play for 15 minutes after they came on. Anyone know how long George Reid is out for?
Not sure that Winchester were, or needed to be, that good in either fixture. Once they got the lead we reverted to copying their long ball tactics which played straight into the hands of their defenders. In fact until Cooky came on we looked completely bereft of attacking ideas and whilst we created 2 or 3 half chances deserved nothing. Let ourselves down big time today after two encouraging results. Nervous looks over shoulders back on the agenda.
Reality returns. Could say they took their chances, we didnt, but that would be simplistic. They were that little bit sharper, passed it better, and didnt make the kind of defensive error that set up both their goals. Squad pretty much back to full strength, so no excuses there. Two tough away games coming up, so without a point or three we will be right back in "the conversation" about the drop. Big February coming up.
