Basingstoke found it hard to settle into the game as Woking dominated much of the first half. Manny Williams however had the first chance of the game as ‘Towns midfield and forwards linked up well. Williams was put through to shoot wide. The scoring was opened by Woking’s Kieran Murtagh on 28 minutes when a deep cross from the left by John Nutter was headed home by Murtagh past the stranded home keeper, Stuart Moore. Woking doubled their lead 6 minutes later when John Goddard slotted past Moore after a well worked counter attack. Basingstoke reduced the lead with the last chance of the game which was converted by ex-Chelsea trialist Adam N’diti fired a low shot into the bottom left hand corner after a neat back-healed one-two with Liam Enver-Marum.
