I'm new to this forum. I've never really thought about supporting BTFC before if I'm honest, even driving pass Camrose so many times.
Although supporting one of the top 5 teams in the Premiership (I'll let you guess lol), I have lost interest in football and think I have only watched MOTD twice in the last two seasons. I am a big rugby fan and go watch London Irish play at Reading. Another reason why I have gone off football is that, I can take my wife and son to watch London Irish, pay for parking, petrol and a cheeky pie for less than one ticket to go watch a premiership game.
Anyone, I was thinking about taking my son to a BTFC game, but is it worth it? I would say £12 for an adult ticket seems a bit much for the level of football, for another £8 I can go watch a top flite rugby game. Also, I like to show my support and wear a team shirt, but again £37 is a lot more than I would expect to pay for a team in a league just above Saturday league!!
I'm not trying to insult any die hard BTFC fans, but think I need some convincing!! Your comments are welcome.
Glad to see that you are keen to watch the 'stoke!
The £12 figure is banded around a lot and is a bit of a turn-off for some supporters but the club has to charge a similar amount to the other teams in the league in order for them to be able to compete each year.
The club is actually offering the cheapest season tickets out of any in the league this season so maybe if you go to one game and enjoy it - you might find it a more cost effective way of going to games. As I assume London Irish play on a Sunday a fair bit there wouldn't be too many clashes throughout the season? It's a shame that judging by your comments, you didn't attend the fun day this past Saturday which was free entry and drew in the first 1,000+ crowd for a long time.
On the shirt - you can get the brand new white away shirt for £30 which can be ordered from the website section 'online shop' and collected from the club shop on a matchday which saves £5 delivery.
There's a lot of buzz around the club at the moment with the link-up with Soccer AM hopefully generating new interest in the club (which I'm sure you've read about). There's no harm in giving it a go (the first league game of the season is this Saturday - 9th August - at home to Hemel Hempstead) and you may just get hooked like some of the rest of us.
Yeh regarding the £12 it is too much imo, but it is what it is, St Albans another team in our division are charging an outrageous £15, as said our season tickets are the best value per match in our division.
All i would say is give it a go, when i was younger i gave it a go and hardly missed a game since.
The Hampshire Cup 2nd round game (drawn at home) is on Tuesday 16th September. We'll either be playing Alresford or have a very local derby against Tadley who play each other in the 1st round earlier on in the month. I'm sure tickets for that game will be cheaper, cup games and friendlies usually are.
September home games below:
