Bromley 0 Basingstoke Town 3
Basingstoke went to many peoples favourites for The Vanarama Conference South title, Bromley looking to cause a upset and put in a fantastic away performance to come away deservedly with all three points.
Both teams started the game on the attack causing the game to become very open and evenly contested. 39 minutes in 'Town were awarded a penalty when Bromley midfielder Ali Fuseini brought down Simon Dunn. Up stepped Manny Williams to calmly stroke the ball into the bottom right corner. Bromley keeper, Seb Brown, guessing the right way couldn't reach the excellently taken spot kick.
After the break Bromley were in the ascendancy and were awarded a penalty when Moses Ademola was tripped by Jay Gasson. However Jamie Slabber couldn't convert the penalty when Jonathan Henly pulled off a superb save diving quickly to his right hand side and gathering the ball to prevent the on rushing Bromley striker from tapping home.
During the next 20 minutes of the second half 'Stoke absorbed large spells of pressure from Bromley who launched balls into the box from every opportunity but the away defence stood strong.
On 82 minutes 'Town doubled their much deserved lead with a goal worthy of gracing any level of football, Manny Williams playing a major part when he played a neat one-two with Chris Flood who brilliantly finished past Brown.
Shaun McAuley put the icing on the 'Stoke cake when Simon Dunn burst into the box and unselfishly squared across the goal for Macauley to tap home to send the travelling support home more than content with their afternoon.
