I am generally pleased with the start to the season, it was a shame that we lost to two late goals at Farnborough, but I am sure you will agree that the players demonstrated a real team performance against Ebbsfleet United to get back to their winning ways.
As you are aware there has been more publicity recently regarding the new stadium. Basingstoke Town Football Club’s proposal to relocate to a new stadium is now under public consultation. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council have published a short survey on their website: bit.do/stadium as well as the consultation document which I hope as many of you as possible will view and contribute positively to. It has taken many years to get to this stage and it is hoped we will be in a position in the coming weeks to proceed to submitting a planning application.
Recently, June Partridge has written to me resigning from the position of Patron. I would like to thank June for all her support and work for the club over the years and wish her well. At the next Board Meeting I will discuss with the Directors this position.
I am pleased to announce that Simon Hood has agreed to join the board as Marketing Director. Simon has been working for the last few months on various commercial and marketing projects including the tie up with Soccer AM for a season and the sponsorship deal with David Wilson Homes. I’m sure Simon will be a big asset to the club as we move forward.
Many thanks as always for your continued support for the team
