Basingstoke Town have completed the signing of experienced central midfielder Jamie Brown.
The 33-year-old, most recently captain of Gosport Borough, lead them to the FA Trophy Final at Wembley in March 2014 and has signed for the season. Brown’s other previous clubs include Eastleigh, Dorchester and Southampton.
“I’ve played against Basingstoke a number of times in my career and have some good memories against them. It was always nice to play against Jason back in the day, and I’m now looking forward to a new challenge and working with the rest of the squad to do something special for the club. Although I have scored a number of goals within my career including against Basingstoke, I’m a tackler and will give the ball to those with the skills to score. From what I have already seen from the squad this season, there is no reason why come the end of the season Basingstoke cannot be in the Play-offs” commented Brown.
Town manager Jason Bristow has been in the market for a holding central midfielder since the departure of Wes Daly and now has his man.
“I have been a fan of Jamie’s for many years, he’s a very combative centre midfielder, that will fit in well with the squad we have. We have admired Jamie for a long time and we are pleased to welcome him to the Basingstoke Town FC” Said Bristow.
