Well it was off to The Camrose for the 2nd leg of the semi final. Could my old club finally get through to a final with the heady heights of the top tier of non league football within there sights.
A good healthy crowd of 1700 was on hand to witness imo a poor Basingstoke performance. Despite a header hitting the post and a clearance off the line in the first half it was Whtiehawk who made the Basingstoke keeper the busier throughout the afternoon. It also looked as if Whitehawk had a good claim for a first half penalty waved away by the referee.
Overall Whitehawk were on the day the better footballing side. They had good movement on and off the ball and looked quite solid at the back. There passing to each other was far better than the home sides throughout.
In the second half other than a chance squandered when a shot from Enver Marum from inside the box went harmlessly past the post when at least it should have troubled the keeper and that was the sum total from the home side in that half very disappointing for the home crowd.
So another big game passes by and Basingstoke fail to capitalise on home advantage in front of a big crowd. It's been a very good season overall but the dream is over for yet another season and the club now look forward to season 2015/16
RIP CAMROSE - SADLY AND UNCEREMONIOUSLY TAKEN AWAY FROM THE PEOPLE OF BASINGSTOKE . NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN
