Just to let the fans of Basingstoke Town FC know about Jill, my wife update. She was admitted to Southampton General Hospital 4 weeks tomorrow, and transferred to Lymington Oakhaven Hospice 2 weeks ago tonight. We were able to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary on May 18th in Oakhaven. Jill managed to see her 50th Birthday, yesterday, but unconscious. Jill made small facial movements to say, " I know you are there" I saw Jill Monday evening with family and Jill struggled to see us in the evening, but we were able to say our goodbyes.
I saw Jill at 11-20am this morning, and told her I was there for her. Jill made a small facial movement. Nursing staff changed a syringe driver, and left me with Jill. I noticed her breathing altered, and she passed away at 11-30am peacefully with me at her side. Jill at no stage was in any pain, and on a child's amount of morphine. Over the last 3 weeks, Jill's liver cancer from her breast cancer got rapidly worse, which was the final cause for her to pass away.
I would like to thank the Basingstoke Town FC fans, players and club officials for all the support you have given me during my difficult times. I will try to put funeral details when I have them.
Les, my thoughts are with you Les at this tough time and hope you are well. You and Jill are a credit to the club and your passion for photography is admirable. All the best George
You & Jill have been wonderful assets to this club for many years now. Both your dedication, professionalism and enthusiasm for the club & the games have been fantastic to see & an inspiration. Jill will be sadly missed. But please know that you are amongst friends at the club.
Les I'm away in Spain and have only just heard the very sad news regarding Jill. She was a lovely lady with a lovely smile and I spoke to her at most games both home and away. We will all miss her enormously and she will never be forgotten by everyone involved in Basingstoke Town F.C. Condolences to you Les and your family and I hope to see you next season. Trevor Bishop
Hi, I have managed to get the date for Jill's Funeral, and it will be on Friday 12th June at 12-30 pm at St Mary's, Branwood Close Everton, Lymington SO41 0LU. There will be a burial at Pennington Church following the service at Everton. Also light refreshments will be available at the Crown Inn 100 yards from the chapel of service afterwards. Family flowers. Any donations to Lymington Oakhaven Hospice. All welcome.
From M27 Junction 1, take 1st exit then 1/4 mile to next roundabout and 3rd exit to Lyndhurst / Lymington on A337. At Lyndhurst, through traffic lights, and by Meridian Garage at end of High Street, turn Right, and stay in left hand lane for Brockenhurst / Lymington. Lymington is approx. 6 miles from Lyndhurst. Keep going straight over 2 roundabouts and traffic lights by Police Station. Small One Way system turn right for Pennington. 1/2 Mile from turning, is a roundabout with Shell garage. Stay on the main road for Everton, and Milford-on-Sea. Roughly 2 miles from the Roundabout, is Everton Hyundai garage on the right. Turn right at turning to pass garage on the left. Everton St Mary's is 1/4 mile on the left., just past the Crown on the right, where light refreshments will be available after the funeral. Distance from Basingstoke is approx 48 miles and M27 Junction 1, 13 to 15 miles roughly. Lyndhurst, from the motorway can have heavy traffic on A337, a good traffic bottleneck.
Jill had around 100 people turn up today at her funeral. It was nice to see several from the Football Club to represent the club attend. The small chapel holds around 80, and it was standing room only. It followed by after funeral drinks and light snacks at the local pub, just 100 yards from the church. When I can, I will try to arrange something for Jill at the club, for where Jill used to help out and passed away on May 28th at Lymington Oakhaven Hospice.
