Thought the second half show gave a bit of hope. However the two strikers get very little support and feed off scraps. James Harper needs to play at least 20 yards further forward where he has a chance of playing an incisive pass.
I thought the first half was pretty even but BTFC dominated the second period except for a short spell at the end in which Gosport grabbed an overall undeserved winner.
Howe is a good shot stopper but think his distribution is poor.
Smart and Bird gave good width.
Natural midfielders Partridge (poor first half, better second) and Ray make centre backs who can actually pass the ball.
Gasson had a good game too.
Harper did ok, Dunne didn't offer much, Soares faded out of the game second half.
Flood was excellent and am a big fan there and think he should run at defenders more as he is a constant handful at this level.
Akinde was abysmal first half but much better in spells the second.
Totally understood why JB made no changes as they were doing well the second half but Gilkes is often a high impact substitute.
Think they missed the work rate of Macklin.
Also hope an afternoon on the bench sent Enver-Marum the message he has no divine right to play for the Club and his effort, attitude and input this season had simply not been good enough. He has ability - time to use it and give a hundred percent next time he gets a chance.
I think BTFC have been very unlucky so far and a 1-2 defeat to Bath City (top), 1-0 defeats to Ebbsfleet (2nd) and Gosport (3rd) and a 2-2 draw at Oxford City (4th) suggest to me BTFC have had what turned out to be an exceptionally tough opening set of fixtures in which they have enjoyed no luck.
As the final table is based on 42 matches - not seven - I think there is plenty of time to turn it around. =D
