No doubt Whitehawk fans and any pint half empty BTFC fans still in town will point to the fact that Whitehawk had a lot of possession tonight.
But football is a game where league tables are based on converting your chances into goals and winning matches and this is what the supposedly mighty Whitehawk failed to do.
I missed the first half (but gather BTFC started well, scored, but it was all Whitehawk after that) but in the second half BTFC could scarcely get out of their own half, the equaliser was coming from the moment the second half started and BTFC had Aaron Howe (superb tonight) to thank for keeping them in the game at times.
But the bolttom line is that Whitehawk failed to press home their advantage and get a second and then the pivotal moments as Manager Jason Bristow made substitutions which proved to be pure tactical genius.
The game totally changed in the last ten minutes and BTFC ruthlessly punished the visitors with excellently worked goals from subs Simon Dunn and Lloyd Macklin.
It would be easy for me to say BTFC will go on a run now - it's just one win and there is a LOT of work to be done to climb to safety - but the quality is there for all to see and I am very hopeful for the rest of the season.
